IND vs SA | Twitter in awe as Jadeja powers India back into game as 15 wickets tumble on second day
South Africa ended day two of the first Test against India in Kolkata at 93/7, with an overall lead of 63 runs. Ravindra Jadeja shone with the ball with a four-wicket haul after off-spinner Simon Harmer and Marco Jansen restricted the home side’s lead to just 30 runs in the first innings.
After starting the day at 37/1, overnight batters KL Rahul and Washington Sundar continued to show caution to take the side past the 50-run mark. Though slow, the pair looked assured on a difficult surface, completing their fifty-partnership in 152 balls. However, Sundar’s (29) hardworking innings came to an end when Simon Harmer induced an edge with Aiden Markram making no mistake in the slip cordon. With Shubman Gill returning back to the dressing room after neck spasms cut his innings short to just three balls, Rahul continued to dig deep during his fighting knock. But once he was dismissed by Keshav Maharaj, the home side’s innings unravelled in quick time as they were bowled out for 189 after being placed at 109/3. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s contrasting knocks of 27 helped the side to finish 30 runs ahead of the Proteas total as the Proteas walked back to bat towards the end of the second session. Harmer was the most impressive among the visitors’ bowlers with figures of 4/30, while Marco Jansen picked up 3/35.
South Africa had a torrid start with Kuldeep Yadav trapping opener Ryan Rickelton right in front on the stroke of tea. After the break, it was Jadeja all the way as the left-arm spinner ran through the top and middle order to reduce them to 60/5. First, he dismissed Aiden Markram in the ninth over before following it up with the wickets of Wiaan Mulder, Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs in quick time. Axar Patel and Kuldeep also joined in as the Proteas ended the day with an overall lead of 63, but with only three wickets remaining. Bavuma remained unbeaten on 29 off 78 balls while Jadeja had 4/29 to his name, with Kuldeep picking up two wickets.
Missed Chance
#INDvsSA why #WashingtonSundar wasn't given 2-3 overs to see how he bowls on this minefield for batters!?

just one ball before he told Kuldeep to bowl round the wicket and after one ball the wicket fell.
Even Kuldeep and the commentators were appreciating it.
