The Indian team is dominating in the T20 format lately, as they also won the T20 World Cup 2026. Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, was delighted with the win, as he applauded the entire team. But he gave special recognition to the wicket-keeper, Sanju Samson, who was crucial in the win.

What's more exciting for a player than winning the T20 World Cup and bagging the Player of the Series award in just a few games? It is gaining recognition and strong words from the Prime Minister of his nation. This has recently happened with the Indian wicket-keeper Sanju Samson.

He was a part of the Indian team which won the T20 World Cup 2026. It should be noted that Samson was not in the playing XI at the start of the tournament. But he made a comeback so great, he went on to win the Player of the Series award and even helped his team to win the tournament.

PM Modi said,“We saw Sanju Samson's performance in the World Cup. As there were crunch situations in the tournament & we reached knockout stages, his performance peaked on the strength of his game. From the beginning till the end, his focus, confidence and intensity kept increasing continuously - This is the true identity of a player.”

Our Take

It is a moment to cherish for Sanju Samson, after all what he faced in the New Zealand series. He was having a hard time scoring runs for the team, and eventually lost his opening spot to Ishan Kishan. But the absence of Abhishek Sharma helped Samson to prove his worth in the match against Zimbabwe.

And eventually, he went on to give big scores for the Indian team in important games. Whether it was the virtual knockout against the West Indies, semi-final against England, or the final against New Zealand, he stepped up for the team at every moment.
