The Indian team has come out to be the most dominant in the ICC events lately. Whether it is the T20 World Cup or Champions Trophy, it has been impossible for the other teams to defeat them. This also reminds fans about the time when Australia had such ICC dominance. But, is India's current ICC form better than Australia's prime?

The T20 World Cup 2026 has been a good one for the hosts, as they march to the Super Eight undefeated. With wins in all four of its games, India also extends its winning streak in the ICC events. Since the T20 World Cup 2024 started, India has been undefeated in every ICC tournament match they played.

Recently, the team went against Netherlands in their last group stage clash. Coming out victorious by 17 runs, India has now extended its winning streak to 17 games in ICC events. This is far more than Australia's 15 wins streak which the team held almost two decades back. Let's take a look at how the primes of both teams unfolded in the ICC.

India (2024-26)

The Indian team started its winning streak right after the 2023 World Cup. Suffering a loss against Australia in the finals of the World Cup triggered them to unleash their inner beast. And since that loss, the team has not lost any single game in an ICC event, whether it was the Champions Trophy or the T20 World Cup.

Indian Cricket Team Since 2024:

  • T20 World Cup 2024 Winners
  • Champions Trophy 2025 Winners
  • T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight*

As the Super Eight stages progress, it is likely that the Indian team will make more progress in the same.

T20 World Cup 2024

The T20 World Cup 2024 is where all the dominance we witness today of the Indian team really started. India started off the group stages being placed in the same group as Pakistan, Canada, USA, and Ireland. Securing a win over Ireland gave them a strong start to the tournament. Later the team also handed a 6-run defeat to Pakistan in a short chase to show their dominance.

  • Matches: 9
  • Wins: 8
  • Loss: 0
  • No Result: 1

In the Group stages, India topped Group A standings winning 3 out of their 4 games. Still, they had not lost a single game as the clash against Canada was washed out. Later in the Super Eight stages, India was placed in the same group as Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Australia. This time also, India remained undefeated, winning all three games in the Group 1 of Super Eights.

Champions Trophy 2025

In the Champions Trophy 2025, India was in the same group with New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Winning all three games in Group A, India continued its winning streak in the ICC events and marched into the knockout stages of the tournament. The team had to go against the 2023 World Cup final ghosts, Australia.

T20 World Cup 2026

The Indian team is now continuing the streak in the T20 World Cup 2026. After winning all of its four games in the group stages, the win streak has extended to 17. With India having its Super Eight games against South Africa, West Indies, and Zimbabwe, the team will have high hopes to continue their form.

Australia (2006-2007)

Australia started its ICC dominance in the Champions Trophy 2006. This is also the last time when the team managed to win the Champions Trophy. In its winning streak, Australia was able to secure wins in 15 consecutive ICC matches, which allowed them to gain dominance.

Champions Trophy 2006

In the 2006 Champions Trophy, Australia started their campaign with a loss against the West Indies. But this fueled a start to their ICC winning streak. The team won its remaining game against India and topped the group stages. In the semi-final clash, they were set to go against New Zealand.

World Cup 2007

Australia continued its winning streak in the World Cup 2007. The team started off by winning all of its games in the Group stages, with 3 wins in 3, which helped them to reach the Super Eight stages. And this is where the real domination started.
