Sarfaraz Khan is giving his best with the bat yet again to get a chance in the Indian team. After being excluded from the line-up for months, he is now eager to gain his spot in the Test team. With his double century in Ranji Trophy, he has given a statement to the selectors yet again.

An Indian batsman, who was dropped from the team, is now giving his best performances to get back to the line-up. This is surely a repeated story which the fans must have watched earlier, but this time, the character is Sarfaraz Khan. He remains eager to get his name back to the Indian team after being excluded for a long time.

Whether it is Ranji Trophy, or Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, or Vijay Hazare Trophy, he has been giving consistent performances. Recently, he has made it to the headlines yet again with his knock in the Ranji Trophy match. This comes as a statement from Sarfaraz Khan to the Indian selectors, and also a positive news for the CSK team.

1. Sarfaraz’s Double Century in Ranji Trophy

With the Ranji Trophy starting again, it was time for Mumbai and Hyderabad to clash against each other. Earlier it was also reported that all the players of the Indian team would be a part of the Ranji Trophy. This will further help to improve the team's performance in the transition phase. And Sarfaraz Khan took this opportunity to show his best with the bat.

Mumbai stood at the score of 82/3, while they were batting first. And this is where Sarfaraz Khan entered the crease and changed things for Mumbai and Hyderabad both. He went on to score 227 runs off 219 balls for the team, which took Mumbai to a competitive stage in this game.

He entered the crease when the team was standing at 82/3, and left when the team was at 488 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In his impressive knock, Sarfaraz Khan was also able to smash 19 fours and 9 sixes, giving a statement of intent to the BCCI selectors. He went down against every bowler of Hyderabad, including Mohammed Siraj.

Against Siraj, he was able to score 45 runs off just 39 balls, giving his statement yet again. With his vital knock, Mumbai holds an upper hand in the Ranji Trophy clash against Hyderabad. It still remains to be known whether Sarfaraz Khan would get his chance back in the Indian team or not. India will be playing its next Test match against Afghanistan in June.

2. Consistency Across Formats

Sarfaraz Khan has also shown consistency across different formats of the game. Whether it is the shortest format or the longest, he has been able to adapt himself very well to the game. It all started with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he went on to bring some impressive performances to get his name in the IPL auction.

On 2 December, he scored a ton in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. This helped him to strengthen his chances of being picked in the IPL auction. Right on the auction day, he was able to score 73 runs but still went unsold in the first round. Later he was brought by the Chennai Super Kings for the upcoming season.

Later, he went on to play the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai. In the match between Mumbai and Goa, he unleashed his beast mode. Sarfaraz scored 157 runs off 75 balls, which also helped Mumbai to post 444 runs on the board. His knock included 9 fours and 14 sixes, which helped Mumbai to win, and he won the POTM award.

And now in the Ranji Trophy, he has been magnificent with the bat. He went on to score a double century for the team in its match against Hyderabad. With such vital knocks, he has been able to solidify his name among the other players who remain eager to get back to the Indian team. Moreover, it is a positive news for the CSK fans, taking a look at his red hot form.

3. Short-lived Test Career

Sarfaraz Khan’s test career has been short lived, as he made it to the team as a replacement. During the England tour of India, he made a promising debut for the Indian team and also went on to play well. Despite his vital knocks, he was still not able to confirm his position in the team.

Sarfaraz Khan in Tests:

  • Innings: 11
  • Not Out: 1
  • Runs: 371
  • Average: 37.10
  • Strike Rate: 74.94
  • 100s: 1
  • 50s: 3

It should be noted that Sarfaraz Khan played his last Test match in the India vs New Zealand Test series. He was also able to score 150 runs in the first match of the series, but failed to regain his spot despite giving his best.
