Shreyas Iyer has officially made his comeback to India's T20I side. He has been named as the new captain of the team, replacing Suryakumar Yadav. Being removed from the Central Contract in 2023 to be the skipper in the shortest format, he has scripted an intense comeback.
A new era begins in the Indian cricket team, as another captaincy change has taken place. Shreyas Iyer has been named as the new captain of the T20I side, as he replaces Suryakumar Yadav in the team. Even after winning the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav has not just been sacked as a captain, his name has been dropped from the team.
But for Shreyas Iyer, the comeback story feels real to the fans. He was dropped from the Central Contract back in 2023, even after having a tremendous World Cup run. Still, his captaincy skills were being constantly noticed by the BCCI across different seasons of the Indian Premier League.
He led three different franchises to IPL finals, with two of these teams being Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings. And now, he has finally made his comeback to India's T20I side after years, being named as the skipper of the team.
Here's how Twitter has reacted to Shreyas Iyer being named as a captain.
