Ben Stokes is once again in the limelight following an incident at the nightclub. After the win against New Zealand, he was with Gus Atkinson at a nightclub when an incident took place. His captaincy now stands on the line, as the ECB has also launched a probe into the same.

The future of Ben Stokes as the captain of England remains in doubt following another controversy. This time again Stokes is under the limelight due to a nightclub incident, where he was accompanied by Gus Atkinson. The England Cricket Board has launched an investigation into the same, as both players are likely to miss the second Test against New Zealand.

England made an impressive comeback in the WTC, after a win by 115 runs against New Zealand. Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson visited a nightclub, where they reportedly had an incident where no one was hurt. This happened against the Saracens Rugby Club, as Atkinson was involved in an argument with an unnamed player of the academy.

In its statement, the ECB said, “The ECB is currently investigating a breach of team protocols following the conclusion of the first Men's Test against New Zealand. Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were present at a nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning when an incident took place. We are currently seeking further information, and an announcement regarding the squad for the second Test will be made in due course. The Cricket Regulator has been informed and we will provide a further update when possible.”

Our Take

With the matter of Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson reaching the Cricket Regulator, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken. Stokes is definitely not having a good time right now, as he has been on the headlines since The Ashes. The English players were spotted in a bar in Australia after the loss, and ultimately a curfew was imposed on them when it made the headlines.
