AC Milan have appointed Rúben Amorim as their new head coach after dismissing Massimiliano Allegri following a disappointing end to the 2025-26 season. The 41-year-old Portuguese manager has reportedly signed a 3-year contract worth €3.5 million per season.

In the latest managerial move of the summer, AC Milan appointed Rúben Amorim as their new head coach, just 5 months after his dismissal from Manchester United. The 41-year-old Portuguese manager replaces Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked following Milan’s disappointing finish to the 2025-26 Serie A season. Despite spending much of the campaign in the top 2 positions, Milan won only 2 of their final 8 league matches and dropped to 5th place, missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification.

According to Italian media reports, Amorim has signed a 3-year contract worth €3.5 million per season, with additional bonuses. Milan’s owners praised his modern football philosophy, highlighting his possession-based approach, aggressive pressing system, and ability to develop players. Amorim arrives in Italy after a difficult spell at Manchester United. He was dismissed in January after 14 months in charge, having overseen a disappointing campaign that saw United finish 15th in the Premier League, their lowest position in the competition’s history.

The team also recorded its worst points tally and highest number of league defeats. Before moving to England, Amorim earned widespread praise at Sporting CP, guiding the club to league titles in 2021 and 2024. Milan will quickly test their new coach when they face Manchester United in a preseason friendly in Poland on August 15.
