India Women were able to start well, as Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma played aggressively in the powerplay. The opening pair went on to score 62 runs in the first six overs, as they took advantage of the field restrictions. Shafali Verma played an aggressive knock of 38 runs off 21 balls, before she mistimed a shot against Caroline de Lange. But Mandhana kept on to anchor the innings.

The middle overs saw the domination of Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. They punished the loose deliveries and rotated the strike well. Mandhana was able to score 67, as she stitched a crucial 71-run stand with Rodrigues. Netherlands were able to control the scoring rate with their spin, but Richa Ghosh scored 31 runs off 16 balls to give a late surge. India finished scoring 171/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, Netherlands was not able to do well against India's new ball attack. Arundhati Reddy was able to take the wicket of Sterre Kallis early, as Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma tightened the screws in the middle overs. Babette de Leede kept on fighting, as she scored 41, but wickets fell constantly at the other end.

The turning point arrived when Deepti Sharma removed both de Leede and Robine Rijke in consecutive overs. India went on to remain clinical in the death overs, as their bowlers forced Netherlands Women to make mistakes. Netherlands Women were restricted at the score of 118/8 in 20 overs, as India Women won the game by 53 runs.
