A new era for the Indian team begins in the T20I format today. With Shreyas Iyer at the helm, the team will be starting a new journey as they prepare for the 2028 T20 World Cup. Shreyas Iyer's pep talk has been published by the BCCI before the game, and it is now winning hearts.

The Indian team will be heading off to a new start with the series against Ireland tonight. It is not just the T20I series which will be starting today, it will be a new era. Or we can also call it the era of Sarpanch Saab, as he steps in to lead the Indian team for the first time.

Shreyas Iyer has overtaken Suryakumar Yadav as the skipper of the Indian team. And now he will be taking the responsibility for two major tournaments, which includes the 2028 T20 World Cup and the LA Olympics. Before starting his journey as a captain, Shreyas had some words to say.

He said, “Let's try and build a solid culture going forward. My first opportunity to captain the Indian team and definitely an honour and privilege as Gauti Bhai mentioned. It's a great respect as well to be leading the country. So going forward, I want to create a culture where all of us are protecting, supporting each other through thick and thin, and more importantly, when we are out here, have as much fun as possible. It's a great opportunity and this is a family. Let's play like lions and approach each and every game like we are going to win it and play to the best of our abilities. Have an atmosphere where we are uplifting each other and enjoying each other's success.”

Our Take

Shreyas Iyer's pep talk before the first T20I against Ireland has surely pumped up all the players of the Indian team. And surely, this is not just an ordinary team, it is a team filled with explosive batsmen and lethal bowlers.
