Only a few months after the ODI series against New Zealand has ended, fans are already missing Rohit and Virat. They will be back in action in the IPL soon, but the fans wait to see them in the Blues. At this time, the BCCI has announced the schedule of the series against Afghanistan.

Cricket fans can now mark their calendars as the comeback of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ODI format will take place soon. Both of them have been the stalwarts of Indian cricket, but they are currently playing just the ODI format. With the T20 World Cup and IPL, the international schedule is missing out on ODI games over the next few months.

However, India's upcoming ODI series has now been announced. This will also mark the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to the game, as they will be playing the first series since January 2026. The series is expected to be intense, as it also prepares them for the India tour of England, scheduled in July.

India vs Afghanistan Schedule

India's last ODI series didn't go well which has made the fans wait for the next one. With this being the only format where they can see Rohit and Virat, each and every game feels special to the fans. Now, the return date of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the ODI format has likely been announced with the series against Afghanistan.

Just a few hours ago, the BCCI posted the schedule on their official social media handles. The poster also has the photos of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, which excites the fans even more. India and Afghanistan will be going against each other for a one off Test and three ODI matches.

India vs Afghanistan ODI Schedule:

  • First ODI: 14 June, Dharamshala, 1:30 PM IST
  • Second ODI: 17 June, Lucknow, 1:30 PM IST
  • Third ODI: 20 June, Chennai, 1:30 PM IST

With all three ODI games in India, it also seems to be the right time for the fans to witness unreal action from the greatest batsmen. Both of them had been in great form over the last few ODI series, which excited the fans even more. Along with that, they are among the only Indian players, along with Shubman Gill, to be present in the ICC top five rankings.

RoKo ODI Dominance

The dominance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the ODI format has been unmatched. Keeping the 2027 World Cup in their sight, both of them have been in unreal form right now. Although they have retired from Tests and T20Is, their ODI form shows that there is plenty of cricket left in both of them.

Rohit Sharma in ODIs Since 2025:

  • Innings: 17
  • Not Out: 1
  • Runs: 711
  • Average: 44.43
  • Strike Rate: 97.79
  • 100s: 2
  • 50s: 4

Whether it was the Champions Trophy or India tour of Australia, they have stepped up in every game for the team. If Rohit fails to reach a big score, Virat Kohli comes up with a century. And if Rohit gives a strong start to the Indian team, Virat is further able to continue the same with his run scoring abilities.

Virat Kohli in ODIs Since 2025:

  • Innings: 16
  • Not Out: 3
  • Runs: 891
  • Average: 68.35
  • Strike Rate: 98.45
  • 100s: 4
  • 50s: 5

Due to this reason, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both have won Player of the Series awards. Rohit won it against Australia, while Kohli won the same against South Africa. Along with that, both of them also held the ICC Number One spot lately, with their form being extraordinary in this format.

Records Against Afghanistan

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have played few games against Afghanistan, as their majority of the games have been against the big teams. The last time both of them played against Afghanistan was back in the 2023 ODI World Cup. And now after almost three years, they will be playing against the same team at their home.

Rohit Sharma vs Afghanistan:

  • Innings: 3
  • Not Out: 1
  • Runs: 150
  • Average: 75
  • Strike Rate: 127.11
  • 100s: 1
  • 50s: 0

Virat Kohli vs Afghanistan:

  • Innings: 2
  • Not Out: 1
  • Runs: 122
  • Average: 122
  • Strike Rate: 102.52
  • 100s: 0
  • 50s: 2

The stats show the dominance of both stars against Afghanistan in the ODI format. Both of them have only dealt with big scores against them, which could help India to get a massive boost in the series. Moreover, the ICC rankings are also expected to get a big change, with RoKo ready to shine from June 2026.
