Australia will be entering the next World Cup as the defending champions. To defend their title successfully, the team would want its pace trio of Hazlewood, Starc, and Cummins to be fine. The board backs them for the upcoming World Cup success.

Facing concerns about injury and workload, Cricket Australia have assured its key fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc to lead the Australian pace attack at the 2027 ODI World Cup.

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald confirmed that the trio is one of the core combinations that formed the backbone of the team in the past is set to remain at the forefront of the strategy for the next tournament, which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October-November 2027. In the white-ball meeting, McDonald revealed that Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc were ready to join more tours of not only Pakistan but Bangladesh as well, but were rested to ensure their fitness on a very busy international schedule.

The three of them contributed immensely to the Australian team's successful World Cup campaign in 2023 and remain prominent to world cricket's list of top fast bowlers. Cricket Australia hopes that these players continue to contribute to the team in the upcoming World Cup.

Having already revealed his ambition to continue as long as the World Cup 2027, Starc needs to keep playing ODI and Test cricket more.
