Sergio Aguero has been slapped with a three-game ban after being charged with violent conduct by the FA on Friday, which rules him out of the Manchester Derby at the Old Trafford on September 10. The striker was charged for elbowing West Ham's Weston Reid which went unnoticed by the match referee.

Manchester United can now be more confident about their chances of winning this season's first Manchester Derby as Friday saw City's star striker Sergio Aguero being banned - Pep Guardiola will now have to do without his first choice striker in his first-ever Derby clash against his old-rival Jose Mourinho.

The FA retrospectively charged Aguero with violent conduct after television replays showed the striker elbowing West Ham's defender Weston Reid during the match at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday. Reid was immediately subbed by West Ham's coach Slaven Bilic in the 76th minute following the incident, which City eventually won by 3-1. Match referee Andre Marriner was unable to notice this incident during the match, and City coach Pep Guardiola claimed that he not seen any elbow in his post-match conference. But later, it has been observed that the FA has reviewed the match before charging the striker with violent conduct. Despite a plea being submitted by Aguero requesting for leniency, his plea was rejected and a three-match ban was announced by the FA on Friday.

This means that the 28-year old will not be playing the Manchester Derby which is on September 10,Saturday and will continue to sit out of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth and an EFL Cup tie against Swansea.

City are currently sitting atop the table on goal difference after three wins out of three matches above United and Chelsea.
