Sunil Chhetri’s brilliant free-kick, which he produced in Bengaluru FC’s 1-0 win against Maziya Sports and Recreation in the AFC Cup, has been nominated as one of the four best goals of the tournament. Nazmi Faiz, Mohanad Abdulraheem, and Iain Ramsay completed the list of the nominees for the award.

Chhetri curled a beautiful free-kick from outside the box past the Maziya wall and goalkeeper, in the 57th minute of the group match to hand his team the lead. The encounter, played in Bengaluru on May 31, ended with the same score and now Chhetri has been nominated for the Goal of the tournament award.

Last year, Bengaluru was ousted in the final and this season they beat after beating 4.25 SC of North Korea in inter-zone semifinals they failed to cross the playoff final to FC Istiklol of Tajikistan.
