Virat Kohli has backed FC Goa head coach, Sergio Lobera, and the rest of the squad to do ‘wonders’ in the upcoming season of the Indian Super League which starts on September 29. Kohli lauded the FC Goa team for their exploits last season as they ended the league stage in third place.

The 2018-19 season of the Indian Super League is just around the corner as tATK get ready to take on Kerala Blasters FC in tomorrow’s opening game in Kolkata. Ahead of the season opener, Indian cricket team captain and FC Goa co-owner, Virat Kohli, took to popular social media site Twitter to offer his side some verbal moral support as they head into a crucial campaign this year.

Kohli heaped praise on Spanish coach, Sergio Lobera, for last season’s results and added that he knew his team will do ‘wonders’ this season, as he went on to say in a video on FC Goa’s Twitter handle. Unlike previous editions, FC Goa will now wear an orange jersey for the upcoming season. The 29-year old then went on to describe the choice of FC Goa’s jersey colour as he said that it resembles ‘fire’.

“We have chosen the colour orange this year for the jersey, which represents our fire, our focus and our hunger to win this trophy. The colour is our team attitude and the team spirit,” Kohli said in the video.

The Indian skipper believes that Sergio’s experience has added a huge impact to the young Goan squad and helped the players gain confidence. Kohli further went on to add that the Spanish coach has built a squad which can win the ISL title this season.

Kohli thanked the loyal supporters of the club and concluded by saying that with this immense support FC Goa will rise to the occasion and bring the ISL trophy home. “Now we rise, Forca Goa,” he said.
