I-League giants refuse to acknowledge FIFA letter to Minerva Punjab

I-League clubs’ last hope was pretty much lost on Tuesday when FIFA send a letter to Minerva Punjab owner Ranjit Bajaj asking him and his fellow clubs to adhere to the AIFF and find and matured solution to the impasses that has been formed.

Bajaj has, however, refused to give up just yet stating that he would go to the Indian courts and Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). In his letter to FIFA, Bajaj wrote, “If you (FIFA) do not intervene in the situation, the I-League clubs will have to approach the Indian courts for any legal recourse available to us and shall also consider moving to the CAS for relief," reported Goal.

However, while one I-League club was still not throwing the trouble, both East Bengal and Mohun Bagan have remained mum about it raising the question if they were at all with Punjab in the fight now. Upon contacting Quess East Bengal FC Chairman Ajit Isaac, he said, “I have no reaction on that,” reported Goal. Mohun Bagan senior official Debashish Dutta said, “We have not received any letter.”

There have also been reports suggesting that the Kolkata giants might join the Indian Super League (ISL) from next season eyeing to rope in more sponsors.
