The transfer saga is finally over, with Juventus reportedly winning the race for Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt. The teenage prodigy will join Juventus in a deal worth around £67.5 million including bonuses, thus ending any move that either Manchester United or Barcelona had planned for the Dutch star.

The battle for Matthijs de Ligt may finally be over, with Sky Sports reporting that Juventus have come to an agreement with Dutch giants Ajax. The Ajax captain will join the Turin giants in a deal worth £67.5 million including various bonuses. The 19-year-old star will have his medical in Turin over the next few days, with Sky Sports further reporting that personal terms have already been agreed.

The teenage prodigy will sign a five deal, which will see him earn £10.8-a-year plus bonuses, making him one of Juventus’ top earners. De Ligt, Ajax’s youngest captain will walk into Juventus after his most successful season winning the League and Cup double, as well as leading Ajax into the Champions League semi-finals.

The 19-year-old joins Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chellini, and Daniele Rugani, freshening up Juventus’ ageing back-line. But it’s the sheer experience that Chiellini and Bonucci have that should allow de Ligt to improve and maybe even learn a few new tricks.

Juventus have already made a few additions to their side, with Luca Pellegrini, Aaron Ramsey, and Adrien Rabiot all arriving to help establish the Old Lady as one of the top contenders for the Champions League. That was their aim last season with the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo, but they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Ajax.
