Gokhulam Kerala kept their winning streak going on Wednesday as they defeated Delhi’s Hans Football Club 3-1 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. In another game, SSB Women Football Club ran a 6-2 riot over Panjim Footballers as they took a giant step towards qualifying for the semi-finals.

Coming to play against Hans Football Cub, Gokhulam Kerala had already secured their berth in the semi-finals and were under no pressure. It clearly showed as they took an early lead through forward Anju Tamang in the 10th minute itself.

However, Hans had been competitive throughout and they brought parity 10 minutes later through Anushka Samuel who took advantage of an easy chance. Kerala were still the dominant side creating chances almost at will and the relentless hard work paid off when Ranjana Chanu scored a stunning goal in the 35th minute. Getting some space on the right, Chanu took a deft touch before curling a left footed shot around Hans custodian Vanshika Rana.

The match wasn’t over yet as a one-goal lead was too slim and Gokulam skipper Dalima Chhibber had to score once again in the 68th minute to put the game beyond doubt. With this victory, Kerala got five wins in five games and topped the group scoring a total of 16 goals and conceding just one.

The other match of the day saw SSB Women Football Club taking on Panjim Footballers and it was as one way as it could get as Panjim was beaten 2-6. For SSB, the scorers were Sangita Basfore (12th and 57th), Sumila Chanu (55th and 60th), and Ranjita Devi (67th and 81st) as all of them scored a brace each, while Karishma Shirvoikar (4th and 89th) netted twice for Panjim.
