Mohun Bagan’s new head coach Jose Antonio Vicuna Ochandorena - commonly known as Kibu Vicuna – has stated that he had a very fruitful discussion with the team management and they will work towards Mohun Bagan’s success in the future. Vicuna also asked the club’s fans to support “fearlessly”.

After Mohun Bagan’s poor run in the previous edition of the I-League, the club decided to appoint Spanish coach Kibu Vicuna as their chief coach ahead of the next season of the Indian domestic football. After his appointment, the Spaniard has posted a video message in the YouTube channel where he talked about the fans and his appointment in the heritage club from Kolkata.

“I had a very fruitful discussion with the Mohun Bagan management and we will work together to bring the team success," Vicuna told Mohun Bagan’s YouTube channel.

In his message to the fans, he said, "I can't wait to meet you guys. Dream big and support fearlessly.”

The 47-year-old coach was appointed by the team management earlier in May and is expected to arrive in Kolkata next month. Poland’s Tomasz Tchorz and India’s Ranjan Chowdhury will assist the Spaniard in the upcoming season. In the video, Vicuna also spoke about his knowledge about Indian football and Mohun Bagan. Mohun Bagan had ended the previous season with 29 points from 20 games and remained at the fifth position on the points table.

"I read a lot about Indian football and, of course, about Mohun Bagan who have got many passionate fans. That is why I decided to take up this challenge," Vicuna concluded.
