Manchester United need time to improve, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said United face a “steep learning curve” after the team failed to secure 3 points against Arsenal despite taking the lead. United were held to 1-1 draw after Scott McTominay’s goal was cancelled out by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brilliant goal effort.
Manchester United’s draw leaves them in 10th position on the table. The Old Trafford club have endured the worst league start in the past 30 years. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke to BBC post the match where he highlighted the fact that United are on a steep learning curve. Solskjaer’s United lead the game at half time but Arsenal was quick to bounce back in the 58th minute.
"I thought: How many times have we been 1-0 up and not got the second goal? This is a steep learning curve for us and we'll keep working hard and with more experience, we'll make the right decision;” said Solskjaer reports BBC.
The Norwegian also felt that United could have added another goal to their lead. Arsenal’s goal was initially ruled out for offside, but the decision was overturned with the use of Video Assistant Referee. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored in his 7th consecutive game for the Gunners. The draw also means that Solskjaer’s United have managed 49 points in 28 games with the Norwegian at the helm, two fewer than what Jose Mourinho managed in his final 28 matches as the United manager.
"I felt we could get a goal at the end and we sent men forward. I've been in that situation as a player when you come off and think you could have got more out of a game, but we'll learn from this," concluded the 46-year-old manager.
