Tottenham will prevail through tricky spell, claims Harry Redknapp
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has backed the club to get past the turbulent phase and also insisted that Spurs need not make any panic signings in the upcoming transfer window. The North London giants were superb in their 5-0 home win against Red Star in the Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur have had a mixed start to their 2019-20 season and suffered a tough October with painful defeats to Brighton and Hove Albion and German champions Bayern Munich. Spurs finally returned to winning ways after a dominating win against Red Star Belgrade at the New Tottenham Hotspur stadium. This was the first win for last year's Champions League finalists in this year's UEFA Champions League.
In an interview, former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has advised Spurs to stick with Mauricio Pochettino despite the Argentine failing to deliver over the last few months. Redknapp also went on to add that he's against the idea of new signings and thinks that there's no position that needs strengthening and the club should refrain from buying new players.
"Where [would you make signings]? When I look at the team, they are full of good players everywhere. It is the same group of players - but one or two are not playing as well.Dele Alli, I love him, what a footballer, but he has not been in the same form as he showed, maybe over a year ago. He comes back to form, he is an incredible player. "I think they have got the players. They are going through a bad spell but they will come out of that," Redknapp told the Sky Sports.
The North London club are set to face league leaders Liverpool who dropped points for first time this league season against Manchester United last week. The former QPR manager feels that Spurs can produce a positive result against Liverpool which will help them build confidence. He also added that Pochettino is one of the best managers and will be able to help the club get over this spell.
"It wouldn't surprise me if it started on Sunday [against Liverpool at Anfield]. We all get carried away. He (Pochettino) is an excellent manager, he has fantastic players, they have a beautiful stadium. They are just having a tricky spell," concluded Redknapp.
