The Indian Football Association has imposed a one-match ban on East Bengal players Lalrindika Ralte and Mehtab Singh after the duo was accused of manhandling the referee during their match against Peeless SC. Apart from them, EB’s team manager and goalkeeper have also been suspended from IFA events.

The IFA, TOI reported, had called for a meeting with the disciplinary committee almost immediately after the referee reported about the incident on Wednesday. Lalrindika and Mehtab, apart from a one-match suspension, have been given 72 hours to pay the fine of Rs 1 lakh, failing which they could be suspended for one year.

The incident took place during East Bengal’s CFL Premier Division A match against Peerless on Monday, when both the players were seen manhandling the referee. This would mean that the players won’t be featuring against Kalighat MS on Thursday.

Apart from the players, the club’s manager Debraj Chowdhury and goalkeeper coach Abhra Mondal have also been suspended for a year from all IFA events. Jaime Santos, however, has been let off with a warning for his name and wasn’t mentioned in the referee's report. The disciplinary committee had all the concerned players and officials, along with the referee and match commissioner present.
