Dempo Sports Club marks its comeback in the I-League after 9 years, as the fans get nostalgia after watching them perform. The team played its last season in 2015, as they were downgraded to the I-League 2, following their withdrawal from the tournament.

Dempo Sports Club, which is regarded as the best football club in the history of the I-League marked its comeback in the recent edition and it has been confirmed by the team's coach Samir Naik, that the team has now here in the tournament for a long time. Fans felt nostalgia after watching the team play in the I-League after a gap.

Dempo Sports Club had played their last game in the tournament during the 2015 season, and the five-time champions marked their comeback to the tournament. After the 2015 season, the team was moved to the second division, where also they were able to win the title. However, they withdrew the name from the 2016-17 season.

Then came a daunting task for the team to climb the ladder back up to the I-League qualification. The team was able to maintain its performance in the state leagues, which helped them to win the Goan Football League, ending their trophy drought.

Along with that, the team was further able to defend their title which helped them to reach the I-League 3, where they further performed well to be qualified for I-League 2. In the tournament, they finished as the runners-up, which also paved their way to the I-League, marking their comeback after 9 years. The team’s head coach Samir Naik said,“It’s a big thing for Indian football that Dempo Sports Club are back in the I-League.”
