Harry Kane, the prolific striker for Bayern Munich, is looking to break free from a goal-scoring slump as the team faces Freiburg on Saturday. Despite leading the Bundesliga with 16 goals in 16 games this season, Kane has struggled to score from open play since November, going through a seven-game drought across all competitions. His consistency from the penalty spot, with two penalties scored during this period, has somewhat overshadowed his dip in form.

Kane missed four matches in December due to a hamstring injury, and his return has been marked by some rust. Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, acknowledged the importance of Kane’s goals, expressing confidence that the 31-year-old, who has experienced both highs and lows in his career, will bounce back. Max Eberl quoted:

Of course, we need his goals. He hasn't scored but he knows that and is probably more critical of himself than anyone else.”

Freiburg, sitting 8th in the league and strong at home, will likely capitalize on Bayern’s recent 3-0 loss to Feyenoord in the Champions League, showing that gaps can be exploited. While Kane faces pressure to find his form, Leverkusen's Patrik Schick, who has been in fine goal-scoring shape, offers a reminder of how strikers can overcome slumps, with 12 goals in his past eight games. Bayern Munich will be hoping Kane can rediscover his touch against Freiburg.
