Real Madrid are nearing a deal for 17-year-old Franco Mastantuono from River Plate, despite concerns over his €45 million release clause. The midfielder has agreed personal terms and prefers Madrid over PSG. However, he won’t join until turning 18 in August, making him Real’s fourth signing after Alexander-Arnold, Huijsen, and Carreras.

After the signings of Dean Huijsen and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid are on the verge of securing their fourth summer addition with a move for highly-rated teenager Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old River Plate midfielder, regarded as one of South America’s brightest young talents, has been closely followed by top European clubs, including PSG. Despite Paris Saint-Germain's recent interest, Mastantuono has made it clear that his preference lies with joining Real Madrid.

According to Marca, personal terms between Mastantuono and Real Madrid have already been agreed. The Spanish giants are now finalizing negotiations with River Plate, although there is some hesitation over paying the full €45 million release clause. Still, optimism remains high that an agreement will be reached soon, possibly even before the upcoming Club World Cup.

However, due to his age, Mastantuono would not be eligible to join Xabi Alonso’s squad for the summer tournament. He will only be able to officially complete the move once he turns 18 in August. Until then, he is expected to continue representing River Plate, especially during their tour in the United States. With Alonso’s approval already secured, this transfer is set to further bolster Real Madrid's impressive youth-driven recruitment strategy.
