Manchester United have reportedly contacted Julian Alvarez’s agent as interest in the Atletico Madrid striker continues to grow. The 26 year old has publicly stated that he wants to leave Atletico this summer. Real Madrid’s €150 million bid and a separate offer from Barcelona were both rejected.

In the latest twist of the summer transfer window, Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. The Argentine forward has openly stated that he wants to leave Atletico, admitting during the FIFA World Cup that a transfer would be the best outcome for all parties. Alvarez revealed that he had already spoken with club officials and made it clear that he wants to pursue a new challenge. The 26 year old has attracted strong interest across Europe.

Atletico Madrid have already rejected major offers from both Real Madrid and Barcelona, including a reported €150 million bid from Real. The Spanish club is also said to be unwilling to negotiate with Barcelona over a deal for the striker. According to reports from Spain, Manchester United have now contacted Alvarez’s agent to explore the possibility of a transfer. United are believed to be encouraged by their return to the Champions League and remain impressed by Alvarez’s previous performances in English football.

During his time at Manchester City, he scored 36 goals in 103 appearances before moving to Atletico, where he has developed into one of the club’s key players. While United continues to monitor Alvarez’s situation, the club is also focusing on strengthening its midfield. Deals involving Atalanta’s Ederson and West Ham target Mateus Fernandes are among the priorities ahead of the 2026/27 season.
