Marcus Rashford Transfer Standoff as Manchester United Rejects FC Barcelona Loan Extension Plan
Manchester United will reject Barcelona’s attempt to extend Marcus Rashford’s loan and insist on the agreed £26m permanent transfer fee. Rashford, who has scored 10 goals and 8 assists, wants to stay, but Barcelona president Joan Laporta prefers delaying payment.
After the loan move of Marcus Rashford to FC Barcelona, a transfer standoff has emerged with Manchester United over his future. The English club has made it clear that they will reject any proposal to extend Rashford’s loan beyond this season. Instead, they are insisting that Barcelona honour the previously agreed £26 million deal to make the move permanent or return the forward to Old Trafford in June.
Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer, with a clause set for a permanent transfer at the end of the campaign. Since then, the 28-year-old has rediscovered his form, scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists. His performances have also helped him regain a place in the England squad ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
However, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly keen to delay the permanent deal by extending the loan until 2027, avoiding the immediate payment. United are unwilling to accept these terms and are open to selling Rashford elsewhere, potentially targeting a fee closer to £50 million given his improved market value.
