As the Haryana government continues to push forward its sports driven agenda, the state has now announced plans to launch a dedicated kabaddi league for girls. Development and Panchayat Minister Krishan Lal Panwar revealed the initiative while inaugurating the fiftieth Annual Athletic Meet at Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak. He said the league would mirror the structure of the popular Pro Kabaddi competition and would create new opportunities for young female athletes.

Panwar highlighted Haryana’s strong sporting legacy, noting that athletes from the state regularly bring home more than half of India’s total medals at major international events. He credited the Khelo India programme for giving new direction to the country’s sports culture and reiterated the state’s generous rewards, including six crore rupees for Olympic gold medallists, four crore for silver medallists and two point three crore for bronze winners, along with five lakh rupees for training and three per cent reservation in government jobs.

Appreciating MDU’s consistent performance in sports, the minister announced an eleven lakh rupee grant to support further development of facilities. Vice Chancellor Rajbir Singh said the university is committed to building world-class sporting infrastructure and thanked the state for its continued support.
