Ravindra Jadeja: It was a good experience bowling on a flat wicket
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has expressed his contentment in winning the series without much help from the wicket and described it as a good experience bowling on a flat wicket. Triple centurion Karun Nair has also expressed his happiness about his record-breaking performance.
Needing 282 runs to avoid an innings defeat, the England batsmen were left clueless on the final day of the fifth Test - Ravindra Jadeja took seven wickets to present India a famous victory by an innings and 75 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On a track that seemed a batting beauty, Jadeja brought life to the game by taking wickets almost at will.
The Saurashtra all-rounder said, "I am very happy that there was no such help from the wicket but we still did well. Me and Ashwin were bowling in right areas. It was a good experience bowling on a flat wicket and I picked up a fifer."
"Whenever the team needed wickets, someone chipped in. It is always pleasing to bowl in partnerships,” he added.
Jadeja picked the wicket of England skipper Alastair Cook six times in the series and shared his contentment about getting the wicket of the opposition's No.1 batsman.
He said, "Mishy Bhai [Amit Mishra], Yadav also played their part during the series. It feels nice to get the No. 1 batsman so many times.”
It helps you gain your confidence. I am very pleased as well I have been working hard on my bowling."
Karun Nair, who wrote himself into the history books by becoming the second triple-centurion of the country, expressed his happiness about his record-breaking performance.
The Karnataka lad said, "It will take a couple of days to sink in. Last night, I was busy replying to texts and messages, so couldn't sleep.
"Amazing feeling when you contribute to a win and that too 4-0, like we wanted too. Not much celebration in the dressing room yesterday; we wanted to win first. There's a lot to learn in the dressing room. I try to learn and get better.”
