Pak wants India to forfeit points if they don't play India-Pakistan women's series
The Indo-Pak women series, which counts towards ICC Championship points, has come under doubt as India has not given its consent to play the series yet. Pakistan who is ready to host the games in UAE has asked India to forfeit the six points riding on the series if they do not agree to play.
Both India and Pakistan are the part of the ICC Women’s Championship alongside eight teams from which four will directly gain entry into the 2017 Women’s World Cup which will be hosted in England. Pakistan is due to host the series between both the countries, but the recent political tensions have made things unclear at the first place.
However, according to a report in ESPNcricinfo, if the series is not played, then the matter of the distribution of points will be decided by the event’s technical committee. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted India to forfeit the six points available for the series if India does not agree to play.
A BCCI official, however, left the final say in the matter in the hands of the government.
He said, “The board has not made a decision on the matter yet, and that it would be binding on the Indian government's call. This is for the government to decide. The BCCI doesn't have a say in this. We still have time to make a decision," reported ESPNcricinfo.
As India are placed in the sixth position with 13 points and Pakistan with only eight points are in the seventh position, Pakistan will be a big beneficiary if they get the available six points. The points will provide them a major boost before their New Zealand tour in November, the points from which also count towards the ICC Championship.
