MS Dhoni has set the standards for wicket-keeping across the world of cricket with his ability to pull off unthinkable manoeuvres to dismiss batsmen. In the match between RCB and MI, Parthiv Patel tried to emulate Dhoni by having a no-look throw at the stumps but ended up giving away an extra run.

Having restricted the Royal Challengers Bangalore to 132 in 19 overs, Jasprit Bumrah was handed the ball for the last over. In true Bumrah style, the pacer started off with a yorker outside off-stump that Stuart Binny was able to hit towards mid on. Being the last over of the innings, Mumbai had all the players on the boundaries at the Chinnaswamy stadium and Bumrah chased the ball as the batsmen decided to steal another run.

The bowler's throw was well off target and Parthiv Patel collected the ball a few yards away from the stumps. With his back toward the wicket, the keeper decided to have a shy at the stumps - Dhoni style. In a match against New Zealand, Dhoni had been in a similar situation and had managed to pull off a brilliant run out by throwing the ball directly at the wickets. In Patel's case, however, he missed the wicket by a "country mile" and ended up conceding another run.
