AB de Villiers' composure was the highlight of the Caribbean Premier League game between Barbados Tridents and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The South African smashed Alzarri Joseph for a huge six after being startled by a brilliant bouncer from the bowler and thereby, won the battle between the two.

The Carribean Premier League saw an epic battle between bat and ball during the encounter between Barbados Tridents and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Barbados were in a commanding position in the match scoring at above 8.5 runs per over and looked to be cruising towards a huge total with the explosive AB de Villiers at the crease. However, West Indian paceman Alzarri Joseph was not ready to take the bashing lying down and planned to take charge of the game with the ball.

On the fifth delivery of the 17th over, Joseph bowled a brilliant bouncer into the body of De Villiers who tried to swing his bat at it but completely missed the delivery as the ball ended up hitting the grill of his helmet. It was quite a startling bouncer and de Villiers was seen practising his pull shot before giving Joseph a thumbs up for a great delivery.

The following delivery was expected to be fuller with the South African now deep in his crease after facing the wrath of a brilliant bouncer but Joseph bowled another short delivery sans the pace that caught de Villiers by surprise earlier. This time, De Villiers stood firm in his crease and bringing his bottom hand into play and dismissed the delivery over the long on fielder for a mammoth six.

Watch De Villiers' thumping reply here:

De Villiers quick fire 82 off 54-balls helped Tridents post a competitive total of 180 which eventually proved enough for a 25-run victory over the Patriots.
