It needed something thunderous from McCullum and Bravo to finish things off after multiple rain delays and power disruptions shortened Trinbago Knight Riders’ target to a mammoth 86 runs from six overs. However, the pair made light of the target by hitting eight sixes and one four in 13 balls.

Earlier, heroics from big hitter Chris Gayle, who scorched 93 from 47 balls, had helped St Kitts pose a total of 163 in 13 overs amidst numerous rain delays and power disruptions and the score was further reduced to a target of 86 from six overs for Trinbago Knight Riders.

Moreover, the seemingly impossible target started off on a bad note for TKR as they lost two wickets for 34 runs in haste which is when Darren Bravo came in the fourth over with Brendon McCullum at the non-striker’s end and the big West Indian was off to a flier as he smashed his compatriot Samuel Badree for three consecutive sixes off the first three balls he faced.

A confident Bravo, along with McCullum, then took Afghanistan spinner Mohammad Nabi to the cleaners in the next over scoring 23 off six balls and thereby reducing the target to just 10 runs off the final over. It was an easy task from there on and Bravo wasted little time too, as he hit Jonathan Carter for two consecutive sixes.

While McCullum ended the game with 40 runs not out of 14 balls, Bravo ended things in style with 38 runs off 10 balls. There were eight sixes and one four hit during their partnership as the required run rate of 16.50 an over became the second-highest recorded in a completed T20 game.

The emphatic win puts the TKR at the top of the Caribbean Premier League with a three-point lead over St Kitts, after they have lost once in eight games so far.
