MS Dhoni overtakes Shaun Pollock and Chaminda Vaas' record of most not-outs in ODI history
Playing in the 300th ODI of his career, MS Dhoni has claimed the world record for the most number of not-outs in ODI history as he remained unbeaten for the 73rd time in his career against Sri Lanka. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 49 off 42 balls which helped India reach a humongous total of 375 runs.
Even though the fourth ODI between India and Sri Lanka is a game of no consequence after India wrapped up the series in just three games, the match still got attention since it was Dhoni's 300th ODI for India. In true Dhoni fashion, the former Indian captain left his mark on the game as he became the claimed yet another record for himself.
After a brilliant start by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who scored a century apiece, Dhoni built an unbeaten 101 partnership with Manish Pandey to stamp his authority on the game. The former Indian captain created history when he went back to the pavilion without giving up his wicket registering his 73rd unbeaten ODI innings. He also overtakes former cricketers Shaun Pollock and Chaminda Vaas, who had held the record of 72 not outs for quite a while. In 300 ODIs, Dhoni has scored 9657 runs which include 10 centuries and 65 half-centuries.
There is one more record on his way as he stands on 99 ODI stumpings which he shares with Sri Lankan player Kumar Sangakkara. Dhoni's fans would want the 2011 World Cup winner to become the first man to reach 100 stumping sn the same match which would make it a memorable game.
Interestingly, Dhoni has played his 100th, 200th and 300th matches all against Sri Lanka.
