Rohit Sharma has praised the youngsters for grabbing the given opportunities beautifully during the series against Sri Lanka. Despite losing the series, Thisara Perera has claimed that it gave a chance to learn many things and he also praised his bowlers to give some fight in Mumbai.

Team India got the better of the visitors by five wickets in the third T20I at the Wankhede Stadium to clinch the series 3-0. They had earlier won the Test series and One-Day International series as well. After losing the Dharamsala ODI, Team India didn’t give an inch to the Lankan players and come back to win all matches after that.

"Throughout the series, we had six batters plus one all-rounder, so we had seven batsmen. We always knew that whatever target is set up, we back our batsmen to get it," Rohit said as quoted by PTI.

"I am happy with the composition we had throughout the series. Guys who got opportunities made it count throughout. It was thoroughly a team effort. Each and every guy has put in a lot of effort," he added.

In the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit took over the charge of the team and under his captaincy, Team India gave chance to some young players as a part of the experimentation process and the stand-in skipper seems impressed with the new crop of cricketers who showed immense confidence on them.

"A lot of the guys were playing their first game, second game, but it never seemed that way. They were confident and it was our job as management to back them. They came and did what they were expected to do," he added.

Kohli will be back for the next challenge in South Africa as the Indian cricket team will be definitely looking forward to registering their first series win in the opponents' den.

"We are looking very much forward to South Africa. But I would like to reiterate the home season we've had has been a very good one. It's never easy, no matter what conditions you play in. There were few hiccups in the middle. Games like Dharamsala which taught us a lot."

After winning the first ODI of the series, it looked like that the Sri Lankan team were going to show some challenge in the upcoming games, but it came as late as the last T20I of the series when the series was done and dusted. But, that made Perera happy as he praised his bowlers who made the encounter interesting and stated that he has proud of them.

"As a captain, I am proud of my bowling unit. As bowlers, we did pretty well today also. Have to click with our batting. We have improved in fielding also," he said.

"We learnt a lot because we all know India is a big team at the moment. Learnt a lot of things from these T20Is."
