It was a lucky day for Bangladesh's Imrul Kayes as the left-handed batsman escaped from shattering his kneecap while trying to save a boundary against New Zealand.

When Kiwi batsman Corey Anderson launched a ball high towards the deep-cover boundary, Kayes tried to jump over the rope and prevent the ball from going for a six. However, the 29-year old was unable to prevent a six and in his efforts and fell over the bulky electronic advertising signs that have bolts protruding on the top.

He also crashed into the picket fence just behind the signs, which added to his pain. The opener required attention for a sore left knee from the team physio, and had to walk back to the pavilion with a substitute fielder sent on to the field. The hosts eventually set Bangladesh a target of 195. However, the sore knee kept Kayes from opening the innings for Bangladesh who lost the match by 27 runs after making 167/6 in 20 overs.
