WATCH | Virat Kohli finishes the game with a six on Dhoni's birthday

Virat Kohli scored yet another century while chasing against the Windies, yesterday, helping India clinch the ODI series 3-1. While the innings was truly remarkable, he won the hearts by finishing the game off with a six over long-on, on a day, which incidentally happened to be MS Dhoni’s birthday.

Despite losing the fourth game of the series, India came back strong in the last game and with an all-round effort, won the game by eight wickets at Sabina Park in Jamaica. The chase was yet again spearheaded by the Indian skipper, who also crossed past Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring most number of centuries while chasing in ODI cricket.

While the century was undoubtedly one of the best that Kohli has scored so far, one fact that caught the eye of the spectators was the way he finished off the game- hitting an MSD-esque six over long-on, on the day which incidentally happened to be latter’s birthday. On the penultimate ball of the 36th over, Kohli deposited Roston Chase’s on the rise ball to the long-on stands to bag the series for India.

The century was also a special one for Kohli who was dismissed for two low scores in last two games - scoring 3 and 11 - and both times, he got out while trying to fend the short balls. Yesterday, in Kingston too, Kohli was welcomed to the crease with a few bouncers, but the conviction not to get out in the same manner once again helped him make his 28th ODI century and guide India to a comfortable victory.

Kohli’s pose while hitting the six had a striking similarity with MS Dhoni, who has made a reputation by being the finisher-par-excellence for years now. But recently, his form and prowess have come under severe scrutiny after his failure to guide India to victory during the fourth ODI against the Windies in Antigua.

Virat Kohli or Evin Lewis? Who will hit more sixes?
