Former Delhi captain Gautam Gambhir has allegedly humiliated Delhi team coach K.P. Bhaskar, who is in his first season, in a dressing room spat on Monday. The incident happened in front of the entire Delhi team leaving everyone involved in a shocked state.

Gambhir used foul and threatening language against the coach in the presence of the entire dressing room, reported the Hindu.

A former Delhi player said, “The unfortunate incident here obviously marks a new low in Delhi cricket and demands a disciplinary inquiry from the DDCA and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as well.

“Is Gambhir not supposed to be a role model being a World Cup winner?” reported the publication.

Bhaskar is a former player from the state and had captained Delhi in his playing days.

Gambhir has been involved in spats with the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and other players for a while. Earlier, he had even engaged in verbal duels with senior cricketers, including Chetan Chauhan, Hari Gidwani, and Venkat Sundaram.

Another former Delhi player has also expressed his shock at the event and said, “Normally we all shake hands at the end of the last match of the season. This is unprecedented, the seniormost player abusing the senior most person in the dressing room."

The 35-year old was replaced by a young Rishabh Pant at the start of this season in a bid to infuse fresh blood into the team. But they have floundered from event to event as they failed at the first hurdle of the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare tournament with only the North Zone T20 league championship to show for.
