Despite all the talks surrounding Dhoni’s dwindling prowess, he has remained as grounded as ever towards his fans. That was on show yesterday when a fan ran onto the ground to take his autograph, during the Vijay Hazare quarter-final match against Vidarbha and the Jharkhand captain happily obliged.

In an age where cricket is so structured and secured, the game seems to have drifted far away from the fans who wish to reach out to their heroes and get autographs or photos clicked. While the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches at the Airforce Ground in Palam went about without any security hassles, a fan managed to make his way onto the field to get an autograph from MS Dhoni.

Dhoni, usually known for his cool demeanor, didn’t disappoint the fan, as he gave him an autograph. Meanwhile, the fan tried to touch the feet of Dhoni as well before being taken away by the security guard.

This was not the first time that a fan entered the ground to touch MSD’s feet. During the first warm-up match between India A and England, Dhoni had just stepped down as the ODI captaincy, a fan ran onto the pitch to touch MS Dhoni’s feet before he was escorted away by the security guards.

Dhoni hit a six in the last ball of the match to take his side Jharkhand home. Jharkhand will take on Bengal tomorrow in the second semi-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and the winner will meet Tamil Nadu in the final on March 19.
