Dinesh Karthik was adjudged man of the match in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for his well-made hundred that set up a win for Tamil Nadu against Bengal. However, the match will also be remembered for the hilarious manner in which the Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batsman was dismissed.

Having come into bat with his team struggling at 26/2, Karthik steadied the innings even as wickets kept falling at the other end. In an innings that consisted of 14 boundaries, Karthik took the TN score past 200 - which had looked unlikely for most of the match.

However, with Tamil Nadu down to their last wicket and just three overs remaining in the innings, Karthik decided to lift the tempo of his innings.

Mohammed Shami, who had already taken three wickets, bowled a juicy full toss on Karthik's legs stump on the third ball of the 48th over. The TN batsman missed the ball completely and it went all the way for a boundary behind the stumps. The umpire signalled a wide and then asked Karthik to make his way back to the dressing room.

After missing the ball, the centurion had struck his wicket on his follow through. While it took everyone a minute to register what had happened, Karthik decided to walk back knowing fully well that he had displace the bails. The Bengal players made their way to Karthik to congratulate him on a well made hundred in difficult circumstances. TN eventually won the match by 37 runs and Karthik picked up the man of the match trophy.
