VVS Laxman awarded honorary life membership by MCC
VVS Laxman has become the latest Indian cricketer to be awarded an honorary life membership by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). Laxman has now become the fifth Indian player to receive the prestigious honor, after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Zaheer Khan.
Considered as one of the best Test batsmen of his era, VVS Laxman enjoyed a fairly successful international successful career and played as many as 134 Tests and 86 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Indian scoring 8,781 Test runs at an impressive average of 45.97 and 2338 ODI runs at 30.76.
Apart from being one of the linchpins in the Indian middle-order during a successful era, the stylish Hyderabadi had also represented England county club, Lancashire twice - 2007 and 2009. In 2008, he, as an icon player, captained Deccan Chargers in the first-ever edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
