WATCH | Wankhede crowd welcomes Virat Kohli as he walks out to play his 200th ODI

Virat Kohli now has added one more feather to his already overflowing hat as he has now joined the elite squad of players to have played 200 ODI matches. 

The Delhi boy, who made his ODI debut back in August 2008 against Sri Lanka, is now used to having the spotlight placed on him constantly and is moving forward with great expectations and the ambition to break records. Since his debut, his performance and batting record charts have only been moving upwards. 

The first ODI of India vs New Zealand series became yet another milestone in Kohli’s career as he stepped out for his match number 200. The Wankhede, which has been a witness to numerous memorable moments in Indian cricket, such as the 2011 ICC World Cup victory, welcomed the captain majestically as the stadium got filled with the echoes of an overjoyed round of applause when he walked towards the ground to bat after Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed in the fourth over. 

Virat Kohli has now become the 14th Indian cricketer and the 72nd overall to have played 200 One-day International matches and will be counted with the legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, and many more.
