Chinnaswamy's sub-air system to counter rain threat in Bengaluru ODI

India is two matches away from registering a 5-0 whitewash against Australia in ODI series. Having secured the series in Indore, India will take the field again on Thursday at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the fourth ODI. The city was hit by rain last Sunday but the Association officials have claimed that the pitch remains unaffected and assured that if it rains during the match it would not hamper the game as they had prepared for the worst scenarios.

“It will be a good wicket. Ideal for a 50-over-a-side match,” KSCA sources told TOI. 

“We've had enough time to prepare the wicket. We've done our best to make a sporting track. It is a good pitch for all. We hope to have a close and exciting game. The pitch is absolutely fine as it is. We just hope the sun comes out in the next two days so that it will be an ideal pitch to play on.” 

The India-Australia series has seen its battles with rain with the first ODI of the series, played in Chennai, facing a reduction of overs to just 21 overs. The rain also made its presence felt in the second game, in Kolkata, where the players had to train for the matches indoors. 

“The weather is not very encouraging and we have one eye on the forecast. That said, we are completely prepared, with the sub air system being a huge advantage. We saw during the IPL (Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match) and during the second Karnataka Premier League fixture recently how well the system works. Even if it starts raining, the match can resume in quick time. The recent rain hasn't impacted our preparations or the pitch since our curators have taken all precautionary measures,” KSCA's official spokesman Vinay Mruthyunjaya said.
