Sanju Samson believes that strategy and composition of the playing eleven plays a huge role in the title chances of the team. Currently, second in the race for the orange cap, scoring 178 runs in 3 games, this IPL season has been quite fruitful for the Rajasthan Royal's batsman star.

Samson has been on a roll this season for Rajasthan Royals. While there were never doubts about the talent that the young wicket-keeper batsman possessed, it was only about time that he started converting those promises into numbers. Riding at the back of a good domestic season, the 23-year-old has his eyes set on improving himself.

"It is good thing to come here and play. The whole world is watching. I had a good domestic season too. I am happy the way things are going. I am improving as a player and also improving my skills," said the former U-19 India vice-captain in an interview with TOI.

Samson also reflected on the importance of strategy and composition of the playing eleven in a squad. Samson has batted at almost every position for the Royals since making his IPL debut in 2013 and stated that a team’s success would depend on the balance of the squad.

"I have batted in almost all positions in the batting line-up. I remember I had opened too for Rajasthan Royals. What matters is the strategy and composition of the playing XI," said Samson to TOI.

On being asked about team’s game plan and how he would go about in his next game, Samson replied, "We are prepared for that, it is different ground and there has to be change in the game plan. I would be starting from zero. Our plans are simple, we would be playing with same plan and energy. Jaipur is our fortress and we wish to continue with the winning streak here. The wicket too is familiar to us.”

Having played back to back matches this season, the schedule for Rajasthan Royals has been very tight and Samson has stressed on recovering quickly after every game.

"The schedule for IPL is always hectic but we have to recover quickly, maintaining the spirit and taking rest.”
