Tamil Nadu cricket coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar has stated this time he is looking for players who will have the hunger for victory and will go to lengths in order to achieve it. As a coach, he hopes that they will have a remarkable performance this year, unlike an uneventful last season.

As he enters his third year as the coach of Tamil Nadu team, he expects that there will developments and achievements for the team this season. Just for that, he is looking for players who will be hungry for victory and will give their whole to achieve it. He mentioned that last year the team was not able to keep their strengths in difficult situations, which somehow hampered their performance.

“We couldn't muster enough fight to put in a simple way. I am sure that will not be the case this time around. This year I want to see only those who are hungry and prepared to do whatever it takes for the team to win,” Kanitkar told TOI in an interaction.

"We are still in the process of looking at the players and their performances. But I can assure you that more than a player’s style and statistics, what I am more interestedis his attitude. If I see a player willing to fight it out in the middle and give it his all, then he will definitely be in,” said Kanitkar.

Kanitkar has mentioned that they will be communicating with Murali Vijay in order to determine his availability as the season starts. With the VAP Trophy ending in the second week of September and the Vijay Hazare Trophy commencing on September 19, there will be nominal time for preseason camp. Even so, Kanitkar mentioned that there will be a short camp organized. The considered players for the team, however, will be announced after the VAP Trophy.

“He is a senior member of the side and I am sure the selectors will have a chat with him before we sit down to decide on the state probables,” he said.

“It will be a curtailed one lasting for a few days, but we will definitely have a camp and Chennai could be hosting it,” he added.
