VIDEO | Jackson Coleman left stunned after Bumrah’s ferocious Yorker takes his off stump away

Jasprit Bumrah is now India’s best bowler in death overs in limited-overs cricket because of his ability to get the yorkers right during the crucial time. Not only the shorter formats, but the pacer can be deadly in the multi-day format as well and he proved that in the practice game in Australia.

India played a four-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI in Sydney ahead of the Test series starting from December 6. After choosing to bat first, the visitors were bowled out for 358 in the first innings. In reply, the Cricket Australia side started off on a positive note and both the openers added 114 runs for the first wicket. The Indian skipper went with the pace bowling combination of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav while Ishant Sharma came in as the first change bowler and it seemed like he didn't want to use Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at all.

However, when everyone else failed to pick a wicket, Bumrah was introduced late in the bowling attack when the CA XI team was already nine-down and he started off with a maiden over. Batting at number 11, Jackson Coleman was looking set at the crease. After finishing his first over without conceding a run, the 24-year-old nailed a ferocious yorker as the first delivery of his second over that took the off-stump away.

It was the perfect delivery that he and other bowlers basically use in the death-overs in the limited-overs cricket and Bumrah, with that sent a warning sign to the Aussies. When the ball was bowled, it was inch-perfect and that left the batsman completely baffled at the crease. Coleman had no answer to that as the ball went on to hit the off stump and that marked the end of the innings for Cricket Australia XI.

Being humiliated once by a spinner is embarrassing, but having it happen twice on the same delivery is as mortifying as it gets, as was the case for Ireland's Laura Delany in Rajkot on Friday. The batter thoroughly failed to read what Priya Mishra had dished and departed for a golden duck.
