The president of the Kerala Cricket Association, Ronkiln John, secretary Jayesh George and joint secretary Syed Ziabuddeen have all resigned from the KCA after an SGM was held in Alappuzha yesterday. The trio were reportedly the most recent casualties of the Lodha reform’s cooling-off clause.

Ajit Agarkar was the first official to bear the consequences of the Lodha reforms when the Mumbai Cricket association asked him to pick between Chief of Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) and chairman of the senior selection committee. Next came the outburst by former Indian cricketer - Bishan Singh Bedi - who anguished at the manner in which former DDCA officials attempted to rule through proxy by fielding their sons, wives, and brothers and orchestrate a way around the tenure cap and a three-year cooling-off period recommended by the Lodha Committee.

The most recent victims of the Lodha reforms were in the southern region of the country in the form of a trio of top-ranked Kerala Cricket Association officials. KCA president Ronkiln John, it’s secretary Jayesh George along with joint secretary Syed Ziabuddeen gave up their respective post’s at the Special General Meeting of the KCA held in Alappuzha on Saturday. Nazir Machan (vice president) and U Manoj (assistant secretary) of the KCA also vacated their seats in the state body as per the requirements of the Lodha reforms.

The official reason given by the KCA authorities for the sudden resignation of some of the office-bearers was that since the KCA decided to come in line with the Lodha reforms, a few of the current top-ranked officials came under the cooling-off clause and were ineligible to continue in their posts. However, several allegations of corruption and favoritism were brought to light against outgoing secretary Jayesh before the SGM began yesterday.

But Jayesh was quick to deny the allegation as he said that, "I cannot comment on baseless allegations. But some members had some pointed queries. I gave my clarification and I think they were satisfied. The KCA was struggling to get funds from BCCI for last year and a half. So the question of corruption doesn't arise at all."

Former Aussie skipper Ian Chappell reckons that the success of wrist spinners like Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal is down to the deception that their action provides. Chappell also added that the reluctance of batsmen to play big-shots against wrist spinners also helps with their economy rates.
