The Indian team management has called the wrist spinning pair of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shivil Kaushik at the nets to nullify the threat posed by Rashid Khan. India will be hosting the historic one off Test against Afghanistan on June 14, where Afghanistan makes debut as an International Test team.

After Rashid Khan’s recent heroics in IPL and stupendous series against Bangladesh where the figures read 49/8 in three matches, India are clearly not taking him easy in the upcoming Test series. Apart from him, Kings XI Punjab’s Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman would also be a huge threat for the Indian batsmen and the management has rightly summoned Chahal and Kaushik to prepare the Indian batsmen to counteract the threat of Afghanistan leg spinners.

Spending considerable time in India over the last two years, Rashid has perfected the skill of outnumbering leg breaks with googlies, something he could use in a lethal way in the Test match. His bowling from stump to stump at a quick pace, which does not allow the batsman to get the pitch of the ball, has been a harrowing experience teams.

He was an appreciated player in IPL as well, where he was bid for 4 crores. The presence of Yuzvendra Chahal at the net has, however, has indicated that he would probably be summoned for the series against England. The selectors might be trying to use him as a surprise factor against England as they did with Jasprit Bumrah, where he was not included in the Sri Lanka Test series but was called upon to play in all the Test matches against South Africa.

However, the one-off Test at hand would require all the concentration of the Indian team to nullify the strategies of the Afghanistan leg spinners, despite it being their first ever match in the longest format. They could cause real trouble for the Indian batting line up if not prepared, which has already been missing Virat Kohli.
