Over the years, Cricket has often found brilliant talents being pulled back by their overweight that has stopped them from achieving greatness. Afghanistan's Mohammad Shahzad became the latest instance of such example as he let his weight get better of him in the historic debut Test of his nation.

After choosing to bat first, India got off to a blazing start, courtesy to a quick hundred from Shikhar Dhawan (107 off 96 balls), who still looked in the hangover of IPL and a steady hundred from Murali Vijay (105 off 153 balls). India ended the first innings with 474 runs and Afghanistan crumbled under the pressure losing wickets at regular intervals with their explosive opener Mohammad Shahzad opening the gates.

Shahzad has been one of the most celebrated batsmen of Afghanistan cricket, with his name in the history books for several records. In 2009, he became the first Afghani batsman to score a ton in the ODIs and in the succeeding year, he also became the first Afghani batsman to score a double ton in a first-class game against Canada. Though, Shahzad has been a prolific performer for Afghanistan with the bat, he has often faced criticism for being overweight.

In his country's historic maiden Test match against India, his weight was the source of debate once again as he got himself run out in a silly fashion by Hardik Pandya. Shahzad tapped straight to Hardik Pandya at point and set off for a single. However, his weight got the better of him and given the brilliant fielder that Pandya has always been, he managed a direct hit to cut short Shahzad's stay. In his short stay at the crease at the crease, Shahzad scored 14 runs off 18 balls.
