I always look for wickets and give breakthroughs to my team, claims Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav has claimed that he is always on the prowl for wickets after an impressive four-wicket haul in India's 76 run win over the Ireland cricket team last night. The chinaman bowler, with Yuzvendra Chahal, wrecked havoc yet again as the duo claimed a total of seven wickets yesterday.
A stunning batting performance by openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had earlier ensured that the Indian team got a strong total on the scoreboard in a series where they didn't really know what to expect from the opponent. But, with 208 to defend, Virat Kohli & company seemed confident and experimented with bowling at times in the second innings.
The bowling department didn't disappoint either, despite conceding frequent boundaries, as the spinning duo led India to a 76-run win over the hosts. Yadav and Chahal lived up to their reputations as they picked up a total of seven wickets amongst themselves conceding 59 runs in eight overs . Yadav was a happy man at the end of the night as he claimed four wickets on the trot and gave away only 21 runs in his four overs.
"It was a good start. batsmen scored the runs. So it became easier to bowl, as there was a target of over 200 to defend. Individually, it was a good game for me as the ball was coming out like I wanted to, variations were also coming out well. So it was a good start. Conditions were normal. The wicket was a touch slow and the ball also was turning. So I was feeling normal, it didn't feel any different," Kuldeep said in a post-match press conference.
Yadav's success in the shorter formats of the game has been his attitude on the pitch. The talented spinner has kept bowling on attacking lengths with an offensive approach, looking for wickets all the time regardless of the runs he is conceding. Yadav further added that while that has been his style, it might not work for others in the trade as it has always been about the mindset.
"It depends on the style of bowling, my style is different. I always look for wickets and give breakthroughs to my team. That is my style. But each bowler has his own style of bowling. I always look for wickets," he said.
