South Africa vs Australia | David Warner and Quinton de Kock involved in heated altercation

Australian cricketers are well renowned for exhibiting aggressive behaviour both on and off the pitch from the numerous incidents in the past. From players like Merv Hughes to the infamous Andrew Symonds, the ‘Ugly Australian’ term has often been used to describe the Aussie's notorious antics.

The most recent one took place on Sunday in the opening Test match of Australia’s tour of South Africa. After the end of day four, the players were all returning to their respective dressing rooms when Aussie vice-captain, Warner, got into a verbal spat with South African wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock who ended the day unbeaten at 81.

Cricket Australia has released a statement announcing that it will investigate the incident.

“CA is aware of reports of an incident between players in Durban. CA is working to establish the facts of what has occurred and will not be commenting further until that has been done.” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said on Monday.

There were multiple moments in the leaked video that showed Australian opener Usman Khawaja holding back Warner in an attempt to douse the fire between the two players. The clip ended with Warner being held back by Khawaja, Steve Smith, Tim Paine and Nathan Lyon as de Kock walked away to the South African dressing room.

The incident came after a fiery day on the pitch as well, when Warner and Australian spinner Lyon were accused of crossing the line in the immediate aftermath of their combined run out of Proteas superstar AB de Villiers.

This is not the first time that Warner has been involved in an altercation. Back in 2013, he was involved in a ‘bar-brawl’ with England captain Joe Root back that created a huge controversy and also resulted in the former being dropped by CA for the Champions Trophy match in England. Warner was said to have thrown a punch at Root after he put a green and gold coloured wig on his head and moved it on to his chin.
